2 notes

Happy Hour: Paradise
3/4 oz fresh OJ
1 oz Marie Brizard Apry (or other apricot brandy liqueur)
2 oz gin
Shake over ice and serve up in a cocktail glass. Make it purdy with an orange slice garnish.
Look, I know the name is a bit obnoxious, and the fact that this recipe is featured on the bottle of Marie Brizard should have been another warning, but I wanted to give this cocktail a shot.
I’ve adjusted the original measurements slightly, so it’s nearly my own creation. In fact, I’d suggest further experimentation to suit your own tastes, because the apricot brandy can be overwhelmingly syrupy. Maybe 1 oz OJ, 3/4 oz Apry?
Anyhow, I recently acquired the Marie Brizard Apry, and I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to mix it up. It tastes sweet like candy, but the apricot still comes off as a bit exotic and unusual, which I like. It’s really about finding that balance, since it is so sweet and thick. I think this cocktail succeeds (especially after a couple swigs, it’s quite lovely).
