Celebz are dum

Here’s our haul from our time in Sonoma/Napa, captured for posterity before we end up drinking it all down.

We brought home a nice split of reds, whites and roses! Here’s the breakdown:

Reds

• 2011 Scribe Pinot Noir AND 2008 Scribe Cabernet Sauvignon. (BUY) Scribe was a slam-dunk: Awesome wines and the best tasting experience we had by far. If you are in Sonoma, you have gotta look ‘em up.
• 2009 Robert Sinskey POV (BUY) They make a lot of really good wines, that are really a bit too expensive for us, at Robert Sinskey. While I am looking forward to digging into this bottle, I probably would skip this winery if we were in the area again.
• 2008 Imagery Dragonsleaf Syrah (BUY) We had a coupon for a 2-for1 tasting here so it was a no-brainer. Imagery is Benzinger’s more colorful offshoot, and in addition to getting a deal on the tasting, the pricepoint for their bottles are pretty affordable. This is a bold syrah with a lot of personality!
• 2010 “The Shop” Carneros Pinot Noir (BUY) We still had a hotel credit when we checked out, so we picked up this bottle in our hotel’s wine shop (of course they have one - much like Vegas has a slot machine at every turn, Sonoma has a wine shop in every store, restaurant and hole-in-the-wall). Since we hadn’t tried it before buying, it was the first bottle we tucked into when we got home. It’s really interesting for a pinot - bacon-y and oak-y. I think it’s good in small doses, but we couldn’t finish the bottle in one go.

Whites

• Laird 2009 Red Hen Ranch Chardonnay (BUY) Laird was pretty laid back when we showed up, but it had a relatively tiny tasting area, so I could see this being a pain on the weekends. That said, this was a very affordable experience for Napa, and we ended up with 2 bottles priced around $25 from them. This is a buttery chardonnay that’s not overwhelming. The minerality of it makes it super drinkable for summertime.
• 2011 Imagery Wow Oui (BUY) Our second purchase from Imagery - this is a sauvignon blanc blend that’s rounded out with a touch of muscat. Another crisp and refreshing white (can you tell I have a type?).

Rosés

• Schramsberg Brut Rosé (BUY) Schramsberg was our second favorite experience because the grounds and cellars are larger than life. I have a soft spot in my heart for sparkling rosé, so we couldn’t NOT take a bottle home (we actually bought 2 of these and have already killed one bottle)
• Laird 2011 Suscol Ranch Rosé (BUY) Fruity, crisp, and a bargain at $20 (plus, who doesn’t love a screw-top?)
